Paul Broadhurst took a little while to get going, but when he did he produced a hot spell of golf reminiscent of his European Tour days at the Peterborough Milton Pro-Am.
Steady rather than spectacular early on, Broadhurst stood on the 12th tee one-under-par with just a single birdie to his name, that was to change as three birdies and an eagle in the space of his next five holes fired him to the top of the leaderboard.
The ex-Ryder Cup star came home in 30, his blemish free round of 65 giving him a commanding three shot cushion over the rest of the field.
In second place was Cold Ashby pro Shane Rose, who had six birdies in his round but he was left to rue a costly double at the 15th on his way to a 68.
A shot further back were three golfers sharing third, Jak Hamblett (Handsworth), John-Paul Banbury (Moor Hall) and Andrew Willey (Bulwell Forest) all shot 69's.
Daniel Wood and his playing partners from Brampton Heath GC in Northants won the team event with a 126 total.
