Brown and George share the honours

Stuart Brown of Orton Meadows and Andrew George of Ely City shared top honours in The PGA of Beds and Cambs pro-am at John O’Gaunt.

Both signed for rounds of one under par 68, with George improving after a slow start to score a birdie at the 336-yard par-four 17th hole followed by an eagle at the 479-yard par five 18th.  They were not his final holes as there was a shotgun start.

Mark Sturgess of Bourn was one shot behind with Ely City assistant Jamie Le Brun taking fourth place with his round of 71.

Peter Blanch of Mount Pleasant was fifth with a round of 72. Thorpe Wood pair, Suzanne Dickens and Aaron Jones, were tied with Lee Scarbrow of John O’Gaunt on 73.

Dean Saunders (John O’Gaunt) led the winning team of club members Alex Fisher, Wayne Buckingham and Andrew Foster with 87 Stableford points. Le Brun, Charlie Rains, Peter Rains and David Cook were runners-up with 83. Third place went to Phil Abbott (John O’Gaunt) and his amateurs with 81 points.
