Brown and Sturgess combine to perfection

Stuart Brown or Orton Meadows and Mark Sturgess of Bourn teamed up to win the PGA in England (East) betterball medal held at Bishop’s Stortford before the annual general meeting.

Seven birdies and an eagle helped the Beds and Cambs pair to an impressive score of eight-under-par 63 in wet underfoot conditions.

Two shots behind were Robert Green and Pat Winston, both of Nazeing, who had six birdies and no dropped shots in their round of 65.

Three pairs tied for third place with 66. They were Bishop’s Stortford pair Andrew Agnoli and Ben Cooper, Roger Gray (Thornton Park) and John Judd (Hartswood) and Haverhill’s Paul Wilby and Ollie Rush. Mark Bell and Michael Vandenberg of Wyke Green took sixth place with four-under-par 68. Thirty-six pairs took part.
