Stuart Brown (Thorpe Wood) turned on the style to land an emphatic victory in the Wanstead Pro-Am.
Brown, who just missed out by a spot on a PGA Play Offs, gained a measure of consolation as he won by five shots.
The Peterborough professional was ticking over until his round caught light with an eagle at the long seventh hole.
He moved to three-under with a birdie at the 12th before finishing off strongly. Brown picked up a stroke at both the 16th and 17th, closing out with a par at the last.
That left him with a five-under-par total of 64, five clear of his good friend Paul Hetherington (Great Hadham G&CC0.
There was a three-way tie for third, featuring Roger Gray (Thorndon Park), David Hawkins (Wanstead) and Glen Portelli (Verulam).
Jason Groat (Denver Golf Club) led the winning team on a total of 127.
