Stuart Brown (Thorpe Wood) gave himself a confidence boost ahead of the PGA East Anglian Open with a four-shot victory in the Chelmsford GC Charity Pro-Am.

Brown is lying fifth in the Order of Merit race ahead of the latest two-day tournament, which takes place at Basildon this week.

And he showed he is in fine form by firing a three-under-par 65 to beat a trio who tied for second - Ben Cooper (Bishop's Stortford), Chase Davis (Marriott Spowston Hall) and Andrew Goodland (Chelmsford).

Brown was two-under at the turn, collecting three birdies against one dropped shot on the outward nine.

He got to three-under with a birdie four at the long 11th and then parred his way home to clinch his third individual win on the 2015 East Region schedule.

Cooper led the successful team with a score of 120 - four better than the runners-up headed by Ian Ellis (Great Yarmouth and Caister).
