David Bunker of Stanmore finished in front at pre-qualifying for the Weston Homes Plc/Royal Cromer Classic.

Bunker overcame a difficult test at Stock Brook where he shot a two-over-par 74 to lead home a total of 28 qualifiers for the July 28-29 tournament at Royal Cromer.

He coped best with breezy conditions, closing out with two birdies in his final five holes.

It was the second time this month that Bunker had landed top spot at a qualifier. He also emerged victorious at pre-qualifying for the Weston Homes Plc/Bishop’s Stortford Classic.

A shot back at three-over were Thomas Marsden (Knebworth), Ian Scott (Bungay) and James Mynott (St Ives).

Scott’s round of 75 was especially notable for recording eagles at the last two par-fives (the 14th and 18th).

Murray White (Penfold Park), Glyn Krause (Elton Furze), Paul Geen (Ely City) and Samuel Teer (Clacton) all shared fifth spot at four-over-par.
