Ten ladies from the Canopius Group teed up a beginners’ golfing session with a difference during the WPGA International Challenge at Stoke by Nayland.
The rookie golfers got chance to have a behind the scenes look at a professional golf tournament during the LET Access Series event before taking part in a coaching session with Roly Hitchcock at the Essex venue.
Ladies European Tour players Charlotte Ellis and Laura Murray were also on hand to offer advice, tips and guidance following the completion of their rounds over the Championship layout.
Each of the ladies had previously embarked on a series of three lessons with their local PGA pro as part of the #ThisGirlGolfs campaign having previously had next to no experience in the game between them.
Yet they were soon flying learning about iron play, chipping and putting during an hour-long session at the venue which hosted the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship last year.
Canopius organised the day on the back of their support sponsorship of the Golfplan Insurance PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.
“It’s great to see all the ladies here enjoying the day,” said Tim Rolfe, chief executive of Canopius UK specialty.
“The health benefits of the game are well publicised and we thought this was an excellent opportunity to get them all involved.”
