Prince’s Ant Tarchetti and Canterbury’s Richard Wallis enjoyed the spring sunshine at Royal St. George’s to share victory in the PGA Kent Spring Classic Pro-Am.
Commenting on the day, Regional and County Captain Tarchetti said: “We’re very fortunate to be able to play a world class Open Championship links, and it was in great condition in spite of the weather.”
He continued: “The Beast from the East looked like it might put a damper on the day, but down here it disappeared almost as soon as it arrived, allowing us to enjoy the golf and the lunch, which certainly lived up to the usual Royal St. George’s expectations.”
The 2017 Virgin Atlantic PGA South Order of Merit champion Wallis didn’t let the Captain have it all his own way and matched his 3-under-par 39 points, so each took home cheques for £456 each.
Their domination of the event was underlined by their three shot margin over nearest rivals David Copsey (DCGS Poult Wood) and Rob McGuirk (Prince’s) who both went round in level par.
In the team event, Tarchetti led his Watchfinder team to victory by one point over David Green’s team from Wildernesse, adding some further celebration to the day.
