Clark determined to lift GB&I ahead of day two

Captain's column - day five

27/09/2019

All throughout PGA Cup week, Captain Cameron Clark will be providing a daily update from inside the Great Britain & Ireland camp ahead of the 29th PGA Cup matches at Barton Creek Resort in Austin Texas.

The boys are disappointed with the finish they had. In match 6 Alastair Forsyth and Rob Coles were three up with three to play and they just let that one slip and just got a half point.

The boys are going to be down a little bit but I’ve said to them it’s better to be two points down on the Friday rather than two points behind on Saturday. We’ll take it to them on Saturday.

The golf out there today was incredible. In match one I think they were both ten-under-par and tied the game, then Matt Cort was seven or eight-under-par so there were lots of birdies but my team will be disappointed. The team have been saying sorry to me. They don’t need to say sorry to me, the boys are trying their hardest. I just need to make sure the boys are in the right frame of mind tomorrow morning.

Matt’s from the same region as me. He’s such a solid player. He played great in the last PGA Cup and I knew he’d do a job here.
