Christopher McMaster (Wellsgreen Driving Range, Leven) beat off some of the Tartan Tour’s biggest names to win today's Bathgate Golf Club pro-am with a four-under-par 67.
McMaster birdied the long first, seventh, ninth, long 12th and short 13th in halves of 34 and 33 with only one bogey, at the short eighth, to land the £1,242 first prize, the biggest so far in his pro golf career.
He won by one shot from four players on the 68 mark, Alastair Forsyth (Mearns Castle), winner at Cardross last Thursday, Graeme Brown (Montrose Links), winner at West Lothian on Friday, Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs), recent winner of the Silversea Senior PGA Professional Championship, and the consistent Christopher Currie (Caldwell).
They each earned £685.
Jonathan Lomas (Ayr Caprington) led the R J Fixings amateur trio of John Mallon (handicap 12), Ross Mallon (2) and Gary Corrigan (scratch) to victory in the pro-am team event with a nett score of 14-under-par 57.
