A first hole-in-one of his professional career propelled James Scade to victory on a memorable day at the Wyke Green Pro-Am.
The Little Channels pro won the individual professional prize by four shots with a round of three-under-par 66 before leading his sponsors’ team to victory as wind made conditions difficult for the field.
Runner-up Laurie Rosewall of Mount Pleasant signed for one-over-par. Daniel Coughlan from the host club, Nick Pateman from Pinner Hill and Tim Owers from Hampton Court Palace Golf Club were joint third with two-over-par.
Scade’s ace came at the 139-yard seventh hole with a pitching wedge.
He said: “I didn’t see the ball go in because my view was obscure by a bunker. It was my first hole-in-one in tournament play although I had a couple some years ago when I was a junior at Braintree.
“It was a memorable day for me with a clean sweep of the individual and team events.”
Scade, Chris Williams, Nick Stringer and Michael Higgins won the team prize with 12-under-par 126. Coughlan, Shane Rowe Andy Carter and Pat Carr were runners-up with nine-under-par. Third place went to Crue Elliott (Sandy Lodge) with Tony O’Brien, Eve Park and Sadat Khan with six-under-par.
