Clough passes The Golf College test

Adam Clough (PGolfCoaching@Pedham) fired off a winning 137 over two rounds at Lindfield Golf Club, claiming The Golf College Challenge title and a £650 cheque.
Ryan Fitzgerald (Burgess Hill Golf Academy) was edged into second spot by one stroke, with The Golf College’s Gemma Allman finishing as the leading student.
Clough commented: “I’m getting some good results this year, with wins in the PGA South Winter Series and the PGA Kent Closed Championship at King’s Hill. As I found out, the tight Lindfield course doesn’t let up, but I managed to recover with two vital birdies on the home stretch for my third win in 2018.”
Played over two rounds over two days, Clough set the pace at the end of the first round, shooting a masterly one-under-par 67 around the tight Lindfield course.
Two strokes ahead of the chasing pack, in the second round Clough was level par at the turn, but the course got the better of him as he dropped four shots from the 10th to the 15th.
With just three holes left to recover his lead, Clough dug deep to deliver birdies on the 16th and 17th, and a solid par up the last ensured his victory.
Three strokes behind after the first day, Fitzgerald stormed home in the second round with an impressive 68 to claim the runner up spot, but an uncharacteristic bogey at the final hole meant a tie with Clough slipped from his grasp.
Summing up for The Golf College, Director of Golf and PGA Professional Paul Lyons said: “I was delighted that so many young PGA Professionals came to compete and show our students what it takes to win. Our educational approach works for all those who are thinking seriously about a career in professional golf, whether it’s on or off the course.”
