Clubs urged to attend Lancs CGP launch

29/01/2014

Lancashire clubs are being urged to send delegates to the County Golf Partnership launch at Bolton Old Links on February 27.

Partnership chairman Tom Cuttill stressed: "Our goals are to actively grow the game in Lancashire by introducing more people to it, increasing the membership of our affiliated clubs and supporting the development of emerging talent.

"In golf terms, this is one of the largest counties in England. We have a great heritage of superb courses and other facilities that offer a fantastic opportunity for those who want to take up, continue playing or return to the game.

"In order to achieve growth it will be essential for the County Golf Partnership to support clubs, driving ranges, coaches, volunteers, participants and club members through a range of targeted programmes.

"The launch event will be a great opportunity for all those with an interest in the future of golf to understand the partnership and how it can help them meet their own goals."

Iain Lancaster, the county development officer, said: "The launch is a fantastic opportunity to communicate the development plan directly to clubs and facilities and demonstrate how working in partnership with the CGP will help increase participation, aid retention and develop models of golf membership recruitment across the county.

"The event will be an excellent networking opportunity as well as giving delegates opportunities to hear from speakers, not only from Lancashire CGP, but important partners such as the Golf Foundation, England Golf and Lancashire Sports Partnership.

"I hope this is the first step towards a successful year of attracting new players to the game and kick starting an annual conference where we can showcase the best practice from across the county."

Two delegates from each club have been invited along with PGA members and other key individuals. There will be a chance to sign up for various programmes and to find out more about what the CGP will be doing over the next three years.

The event starts at 2pm and is expected to last an hour and a half. All attendees will need to register via the form on www.lancashirecgp.co.uk
