‘COACHING GOLF TO CHILDREN’ A NEW Online Course from JGA

22/02/2017

JGA PS

Written by PGA Fellow Professional, Neil Plimmer, and the Saudi Arabia based, Jonathan Shipstone (PGA Trainee of the Year: 2010), this COACHING GOLF TO CHILDREN eLearning course will explore how you can become a better junior coach by engaging more children in the sport, effectively communicating with parents and driving your own coaching revenues.

This first course – one of a series from JGA – offers a broad introduction to coaching golf to children and young people. It is aimed at those new to the role of coaching juniors and those already experienced in the position who are interested in a new perspective on their coaching.

The course, which is offered free of charge to Junior Golf Alliance members or £85 to non-members, is split into seven modules:

  • Module 1 – Reflective Practice
  • Module 2 – Children
  • Module 3 – Parents
  • Module 4 – Golf Course Play
  • Module 5 – Coaching Through Games
  • Module 6 – Safeguarding and Safety
  • Module 7 – Business

Taking approximately 6 hours to complete, Neil Plimmer had this to say about the course:

“This first course from The JGA is a great overview of the whole subject of junior coaching. The content itself is very practical and written from our own experiences of coaching golf to children over a number of years now. We hope that PGA Professionals will take this opportunity to improve their own children’s coaching businesses and, as a result, will hopefully be inclined to further education and develop themselves with the courses we deliver at The JGA.”

Neil and Jonathan, along with Nevil Perryman-Best and Matthew Orwin, are founding Directors of the Junior Golf Alliance, which launched in September 2016 to support coaches of children and young people through education, support and the sharing of experiences and best practice amongst its members.

PGA Professionals will be credited with 40 CPD Points for successful completion of the training as part of the PGA’s Member Education Programme. To access this course, CLICK HERE
