Coles blazes trail

Former European Tour player Rob Coles hit the front on day one of the Weston Homes Aldwickbury Park Classic.
Coles (Maylands Golf & Country Club) shot a three-under par 68 to claim a one-shot lead from a trio of players.
The Essex ace made five birdies to stamp his authority on the year’s first Order of Merit event in the East.
He signalled his intent by opening up with a birdie at the first. Turning in two-under, he didn’t drop a shot on the inward nine, which included a three at the par-4 18th.
Hot on Coles’ heels are Ryan Newman (Brookmans Park), Stuart Brown (Thorpe Wood) and Ben Talbot (Brocket Hall) on two-under-par.
A further trio are a shot back to help set up what should be a superb second day.
The last group are out at 1.20pm with more decent weather forecast.
