Coles burns brightly at Rochford

Robbie Coles lit up a dull overcast day at Rochford Hundred Golf Club with an impressive nine-under-par 62.

The Maylands Golf and Country Club won the Rochford Strokeplay title thanks to seven birdies and an eagle.

Immediately after he flew to Oman for the Challenge Tour finals in a bid to regain his European Tour card.

In second place with a fine round of 66 was Andy Shakespear from the Warren Golf and Country Club, one shot ahead of the in-form Mark Talbott from Thorpe Hall Golf Club.

The low amateur was young Taylor Carter from the host club who returned an excellent 68.
