Coles celebrates rare hole-in-one

It was a case of déjà vu for Robert Coles (Maylands Golf and Country Club) who won the Essex Professional event at Rochford two years after his success at the same venue.

Coles finished three shots ahead of his nearest rival on nine-under par 62 and was boosted by a hole-in-one at the par 3 15th.

It capped off an amazing few weeks for Coles who played an integral role in helping Great Britain and Ireland beat America in the PGA Cup in September and last month he was victorious in the PGA Play-Offs at Walton Heath.

Runner-up at the Essex Professional was Mason Papple (Stock Brook Manor) who in his first event as a Professional with Essex scored a very creditable 66, and third place was shared by Mark Talbott (Thorpe Hall Golf Club) and Lloyd Kennedy (Woolston Manor).
