It was a sunshine round for Conor Thornton ahead of the PGA Irish Club Professionals' Tournament and he made the best of it.
Dundalk assistant Conor Thornton got in some useful practice at his home club yesterday, ahead of this week’s Club Professionals’ Championship.
Yesterday it was the PGA Irish Club Pro-am, at Dundalk, with Thornton leading in the winning team on 91 points. However, the winners had only one point to spare over Michael Allan (Pure Golf Leopardstown) and his M Soraghan Team
Taking a sunshine break from the green baize to sample the lush greens at Dundalk was professional snooker player Mark Allen who swapped his cue for his golf clubs. The Massereene Junior Cup player was a member of Peter McCarroll’s team yesterday but didn’t have any more luck than he had in the Junior Cup qualifying on Sunday when Massereene failed to make the matchplay stages. McCarroll’s team finished in ninth place on 81 points.
