Cornish Festival Is A Sell Out

19/03/2013

The popular Cornish Riviera Pro-Am Festival sold out in just six weeks - months before the much-awaited 2013 season kicks off.

The largest pro-am festival in Britain is staged again from April 16-18 over the three championship links of St Enodoc, Newquay and Trevose where the presentations take place on the final evening.

"We have started a waiting list but don't hold out much hope of cancellations as the festival has become more popular than ever," said Glenn Ross, Secretary of The PGA in England & Wales (South West).

"It is a healthy start to the season. Players from all parts of the country return year after year and the need for early bookings was never more necessary than this year."

A total of 456 players, 114 professionals and 342 amateurs, among them former Ryder Cup players as well as European Tour, Senior Tour and PGA professionals from all over the British Isles revel in visiting one of the country's most popular holiday destination.

Last year's co-winner Ryder Cup man Paul Broadhurst and former European Tour winner David Dixon, who achieved back-to-back wins in 2008 and 2009, will again be in contention.

But leading West players, including Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre), Chris Gill (Exeter), Race to Woodbury Park Order of Merit winner Matt Dearden (The Vale Hotel) and Lee Thompson (Dudsbury), will be hoping to retain the first prize in the region.
