Corrigan fits the bill

The ever-consistent Craig Corrigan top scored in the Bill Beaumont Classic Pro-am at Hillside with a two-under-par 69 at the 35^th staging of the event in aid of the Lancashire Association of Boys' and Girls' Clubs.

Five birdies offset a trio of bogeys as the Haigh Hall maestro won by a shot from Simon Lucas, of Ashton Golf Centre.

Rugby Union legend Beaumont was, as always, in fine form as he ensured the charity, launched 80 years ago, benefited from his efforts yet again.

Sherdley Park PGA Professional Alan Gibson guided his team to victory.
