Matt Cort credited what he called 'the Wentworth effect' for yet another flawless round of golf that saw him make it two PGA (Midlands) pro-am wins in two days.
Cort produced a blemish free round of 65 on home turf at Rothley Park, finishing with a flourish as three successive birdies on the final three holes saw him record a three shot margin over the rest of the field.
The winner was fresh from his appearance at the BMW PGA Championship, despite missing the cut he benefitted greatly from the experience.
“It's really sharpened my game up, especially on the greens, I've putted really well here and at Coventry which all comes from last week at Wentworth,” he said.
Luke Towler grabbed solo second with a 68, yet it could have been so much better for the Telford G&CC pro as he reached five under following a sparkling first ten holes, only to suffer three dropped shots in the middle of his back nine.
Another Leicestershire star, Matthew Ulyett (Park Hill) shot a 70 for third place. Elsewhere, despite a disappointing round of 75, Joe Smoothy (Marriott Forest of Arden) recorded the first hole in one of the season at the 160-yard fourth hole.
The Midlands pros now head to The South Staffordshire club for the first Order of Merit event of the season, The Lotus Financial Solutions Invitational which takes place on June 4th-5th.
