Birdies on his opening two holes propelled Matthew Cort to victory at the Rotary Charity Pro-Am at Copt Heath Golf Club.
The Rothley Park golfer started his round on the ninth and was three-under at the turn. He picked up another shot late on to finish with a four-under-par 67.
That was one clear of Tim Rouse (Northants Country GC) who had eased to four-under after 11 holes only to lose his momentum and finish with a 68.
John-Paul Banbury (Moor Hall GC) was the only other golfer to shoot below par, his two-under-par 69 including an eagle at the par four 14th.
Copt Heath’s Edward Hornsby finished in the prize money at his home course. He finished three-over par with a round that included birdies on the first and 14th.
