Coughlan wins by two shots at Grims Dyke

Daniel Coughlan (above) of Wyke Green won the Grims Dyke Golf Club Pro-Am with a three-under-par 66 which included four birdies.

He beat host Head Professional Lee Curling and Matthew Cousens of Bushey Golf and Country Club by two shots.

Four players in a field of 19 carded level par. They were Phil Abbott (John O’Gaunt), Darren Bragg (North London Golf Academy), Stuart Brown (Orton Meadows) and Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range).

The only eagle of the day came from Crue Elliott (Sandy Lodge) at the 259-yard par four 17th hole.

Although it rained all morning, the sun came out almost as soon as the shotgun went off to denote the start of play.

Paul Hetherington of Great Hadham Golf and Country Club led the winning team of Mark Bennett, Lance Usher and Jim Dalling who had 18-under-par 120.

Samuel Chapple (Ashford Manor Golf Club) was runner-up with Jack McCormack, John McCormack and Colin Davey at 17-under-par.

Third team prize went to Anthony McCarthy (Hartsbourne Country Club) with Peter Francis, Keith Loddy and Steve McSweeney who were 16-under-par.
