Chris Doak notched a wire-to-wire victory in the Arnold Clark Tartan Tour’s 36-hole Order of Merit Challenge at Stirling.

The former Scottish PGA champion finished with a 13-under tally and claimed the £1,650 top prize by two shots from Alastair Forsyth and Craig Lee.

Doak stamped his authority on the 36-hole shoot-out with a thrilling course record 64 on day one which thrust him to the front.

The former DP World Tour campaigner had been meandering along at one-under-par through 11 holes but suddenly unleashed the heavy artillery and blasted an eagle and five birdies over his last seven holes to barge up the order.

Doak then fortified his position at the summit with three birdies in his opening five holes on day two. A bogey on the sixth was a minor mishap and the 45-year-old eased over the winning line with further birdies at 12, 13 and 15 in a five-under 67.

Craig Lee, the winner of the recent PGA Play-offs, continued his good form and shared second with a closing 66 which was illuminated by a birdie, eagle start and brace of birdies to finish.

Forsyth, the reigning Scottish PGA champion, also signed off with a 66 to finish alongside Lee.
