Crump awarded Midlands Coach of the Year 2021

Hannah Crump, based at Stonebridge Golf Club, has won the award for PGA Midlands Coach of the Year 2021.

It was a stellar year for Crump and she has also been nominated for two England Golf Awards. Increasing female participation and championing diversity in the sport have both played a huge role in her coaching projects over the last year. Crump spoke about her delight at winning the award and what it means to her:

“Getting the award meant everything. Last year was so busy and I worked so hard. To be recognised for that is such a wonderful honour.”

“From a female perspective, it was massive for me to accept the award in front of all the fantastic men that work in the Midlands. The Midlands is a male dominated region, so winning as a woman just made me incredibly proud.”

Crump elaborated on some of her highlights of the past year, as well as her plans for 2022:

“At one point we had over 100 women attending the coaching programme. That milestone number felt fantastic and word of mouth is only growing. One of my highlights of the last year was around Christmas when we took about 60 women, all involved within the women’s coaching, out for a Christmas dinner. That community vibe of bringing everyone together is what I am looking for as coach. For me, it’s not just about the golf side, but bringing people together. Creating friends is what brings longevity.”

“Winning the award just helps to give me that drive and determination to keep pushing and growing. Last year was hard and intense, but it was so worth it. It would be easy to sit back now, but I just want to work harder and up the challenge. I want those numbers to double and treble.”

Crump was presented with her certificate at the PGA Midlands Members Meeting held at Kings Norton Golf Club. Fellow winners included Adam Keogh, PGA Midlands Player of the Year 2021 and Angus Hoare, PGA Midlands Professional of the Year 2021.
