International Women’s Day, celebrated every year on March 8, was set up to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness about discrimination and take action to drive gender parity.

This year’s theme is ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ and PGA Professionals Hannah Crump (Stonebridge Golf Club), Alison Nicholas MBE and Ellie Potts will be delivering golf experiences for the ‘Inspiring Inclusion through Change’ event.

The event, taking place at The Belfry on Saturday, March 9, will see former LPGA player and PGA of America Hall of Famer Dr Renee Powell (pictured left) give insights into her experiences, as well as a discussion panel of industry leaders and visionaries including Olympian Dame Denise Lewis.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in golf clinics with PGA Professionals, Nicholas, Crump and Potts, as well as Powell herself.

Crump was thrilled to be asked to be a part of the event: “I instantly loved the idea of it, trying to do what we can to make golf more of a diverse world, to match the world that we live in today.

"It’s so important to help support these fantastic initiatives and help introduce more people to the game in the best fun way that I can.

“To be a part of an event that has got such unbelievable history, to understand about Renee Powell, her influence and what she's done for women in a minority group - wow, it's actually going to be so special to be a part of it, listening to somebody that has obviously done wonders for the game and learn from her.”

Potts shared her thoughts on what more golf clubs can do to attract different communities to golf: “I think it's such a positive event to get these women into golf - I'm really happy to be involved and hopefully inspire more women to play.”

“Golf clubs often advertise things just on their pages and don't really look at going into where the women work or try to find their communities and work around them. I think if you want a specific group or a more diverse group, you have to get on their level and approach them through that. I'd say just try and be as inclusive as possible because some golf clubs - you rock up to as a female and you feel a bit intimidated and out of place - we need to change that way of thinking and just embrace everybody.”
