Chris Cutchie fired a five-under-par 67 to claim a two-shot victory in the Hadley Wood Pro-Am.
In a reversal of the first two places in the opening Order of Merit event, the Colchester PGA Professional beat his Aldwickbury Park conqueror Ian Campbell (Cheshunt Park).
Cutchie, who started at the fifth hole, compiled a blemish-free card. He was soon on song with a birdie two at the seventh and picked up another stroke at the 11th – his seventh.
But Cutchie’s round really caught light at the short par-four 15th where he recorded an eagle. There was to be one more birdie for him at his third last hole and he closed out with two pars.
Campbell, the East region’s most in-form player, enjoyed another good pay-day. He opened up with a par – the first of five on his card – and went on to sign for a 69, good enough for sole possession of second place.
James Wood (Muswell Hill), Jason Levermore (Channels) and Phil Abbot all finished with two-under-par 70s, while Michael Moore (Pinner Hill), Laurence Allen (Verulam), James Jankowski (JJ Golf) and Chris Weston (Sittingbourne & Milton Regis) were tied for sixth place after one-under-par rounds.
In all there was an impressive 53 teams in the lineup. And it was the quartet bossed by Levermore who emerged top of the pile with a tally of 129.
