Daniel Field notched a sizzling seven birdies on his way to claiming top spot at The Hertfordshire GC Pro-Am.
The East Herts pro, who started at the ninth under a shotgun start, notched birdies at his opening two holes.
He dropped a stroke at the 13th but a two at the short 15th cancelled out the blip before he made further progress with another birdie to complete his outward nine.
Indeed, he picked up a shot at all three of the course’s par-fives, while he threw in another birdie at the seventh – his 17th – for good measure.
A solid par at his closing hole meant Field signed for a five-under-par 65. That total proved two too good for runner-up Mark Baker (Colchester), who himself was a shot clear of Lee Curling (Grims Dyke).
It was a double on the day for Field as he bossed the winners in the team event. Their tally of 124 was one better than the team marshalled by Robert Leonard (Harpenden Common).
