PGA Professional Daniel Croft has achieved a lifelong dream after qualifying for the 149th Open Championship at Royal St. George's.
Croft booked his place at this year's eagerly anticipated Open Championship in July after finishing third in the Final Qualifying at West Lancashire on Tuesday, 30th June.
Playing 36-holes back-to-back, Croft, who is based at Mersey Valley Golf & Country Club, shot an opening round of 70 but improved in round two with a score of 68 taking his total to 138 for the day.
Croft had twice reached local Final Qualifying for The Open Championship, once as an amateur in 2016 and once since turning Professional in 2018.
"When I finished I was very emotional and happy," said Croft. "I called my dad straight away and completely broke down because my dad means every to me, he's my best mate, it means that much to me. He was saying how proud he was of me!"

PGA Trainee Sam Forgan (pictured above) is also celebrating after booking his place at Royal St. George's.
Forgan, who featured in The R&A's Road to The Open series, had to deal with extra pressure and scrutiny in this year's Open Qualifying at Prince's, but he delivered.
A 67 at Prince's on Sunday helped Forgan reach Final Qualifying, before two rounds of grinding golf in tough conditions secured him a spot in The Open thanks to a total score of 142. A 10 foot putt on the last to do it was the cherry on top.
