Richard Daniels (Myerscough College Golf Academy) practiced what he preaches when he won the Darwen pro-am.
He silenced several Lancashire PGA big guns as he fired a two-under-par 69 to finish a shot ahead of serial winner David Shacklady, from Mossock Hall, and Oak Royal's Jeff Mathews.
Daniels picked up two birdies on each loop in an event which has been running for 36 years and attracted 37 teams.
A brand new car, a set of clubs, a holiday in Portugal, and a weekend break were up for grabs for any amateur who scored an ace at the four par-three holes.
None of them achieved the feat but Blackpool-based professional Ian Singleton did with a nine iron at the 14th which cost him the traditional round of drinks.
Meanwhile, this was a parting shot by Newcastle-born Mathews - he is leaving the county this week after 25 years for a new post in Kent.
