Gareth Davies will fly the flag for PGA Assistants in the UK when he competes in the Australian PGA Trainee Championship at Ballarat Golf Club in Victoria from October 21-24.
The Sheffield golfer from Abbeyday earned his place in the event down under courtesy of his victory in the 54-hole Powerade PGA Assistants Championship at Coventry earlier in the summer.
And Davies will go there in buoyant mood having helped Yorkshire to victory in the SkyCaddie PGA England & Wales Inter-County Championship at The Belfry earlier this week.
Australia has proved a happy hunting ground for Powerade winners with Guy Woodman (2009) and Matt Cort (2011) both doing the double and if Davies emulates the pair he will win AU$10,000 and also secure entry into the 2015 Australian PGA Championship competing alongside defending champion and World No. 2 Adam Scott.
The Ballarat course was redesigned by five times British Open champion, Peter Thomson via Thomson-Perret.
Davies will round off a busy season with his Powerade win earning him a place at the Titleist PGA Play-Offs in Turkey at the end of November where a top 10 finish will secure a place in next year’s BMW PGA Championship.
