Forty-nine year old former PGA European Tour star Mark Davis shared the individual honours with Jason Levermore in the Thorndon Park Invitational Pro-Am.
Both players posted scores of one-over-par 72 in cold and damp conditions, beating experienced rivals Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range), Darren Charlton (Dunstable Downs) and Daniel Poulter (Kartel Golf) into joint third place by a single shot.
Davis, who is attached to Thorndon Park, won the Brabazon Trophy in 1984 to round off a successful amateur career.
He finished in the top 100 in the PGA European Tour eight times winning the Austrian Open in 1991 and 1994. Then he became dogged by injury problems. His final year on Tour was 2002.
Despite taking the post of head professional at Channels Golf Club earlier this year Levermore is still in second position in the Virgin Atlantic PGA in England (East) Order of Merit. He has every chance of clinching his place in the Titleist PGA Play-offs in Turkey after the PGA East Anglian Open at the Rayleigh Club.
Andrew George of Ely City led the winning team of Mark Lemon, Mick Munnelly and Charlie Rains with a score of 14-under-par 128. Charlton, Ash Adams, Mark Smith and Graeme Danby were runners-up with 12-under-par.
Third place went to Poulter, Mark Gillett, Chris Reid and Rob Nobel with 11-under-par on count back from Andy Pestell (Chelmsford) with Henry Boorman, Phil Smith and Alan Connell.
