Former PGA European Tour star Mark Davis (above) of Thorndon Park won the Essex PGA Winter League match played on a wet but very playable course at Channels Golf Club.
His round of two-under-par 69 beat off the challenge of runner-up Mark Baker (Colchester) by two shots. Davis finished his round in style completing his back nine in four-under-par 30.
Despite racking up six birdies Chris Goddard (Romford) had to settle for joint third at one over par 71. He ended level with Chris Cutchie (Colchester) who was the leading assistant.
Mark Hooper (The Rayleigh Club), who will lead the East challenge in the bid for glory in the Titleist PGA Play-Offs in Turkey this month, was round in 73.
