Time is running out for aspiring PGA pros hoping to make their mark on this year’s Powerade PGA Assistants’ Championship with the closing date for entries looming.
The 54-hole event, which predates the US Masters by four years, has seven regional qualifiers at leading UK venues with the grand final set for Coventry Golf Club from June 11-13.
Competitors will need to get their entries in by Wednesday, April 9, with the first qualifiers at Penwortham and Haverhill respectively on April 30.
A total prize fund of £32,500 is on offer with the winning assistant set to pocket £5,000 in addition to qualifying for the end of season Titleist PGA Play-Offs in Turkey where they will have the chance to qualify for a number of European Tour events including the BMW PGA Championship.
There is also certain to be a new name inscribed on the trophy with Rothley Park’s Matt Cort, who has won the tournament for the last three years, now among the qualified ranks.
This year's tournament also marks a milestone for Powerade as they celebrate their 10th anniversary as lead sponsor, reflecting their commitment to supporting new generations of PGA Professionals coming through the ranks.
Luke Young, national and key account manager for Coca-Cola Enterprises, said: “We are delighted to once again support this prestigious tournament. It is an event which has a long history of showcasing outstanding golf from some of the country’s best young players, and I look forward to watching what will undoubtedly be another exciting Championship this year.”
