In the week when an England Golf report highlighted the important role structured coaching plays in attracting new golfers, a number of PGA Professionals are celebrating APAL awards.

The Accreditation for Professional Achievement and Learning (APAL) awards reflect the commitment made by PGA Members to stay at the top of their game in whatever field of the golf industry they work in.

There are four levels of APAL award rising from PGA Advanced Professional through to PGA Fellow, PGA Advanced Fellow and PGA Master Professional.

Among the recipients in the latest batch is China-based Mark Reeves (QiXing Int) who has attained PGA Advanced Fellow Professional status.

Four pros have attained PGA Fellow Professional including PGA board member Gavin Kavanagh (Delgany) and Kevin Flynn (Tournebury Golf Centre) who is also part of the R&A’s Working for Golf programme where he has helped develop golf in Chile.

Jamie Cundy (Dudley GC), picctured above, who also attains Fellow status, was one of 20 plus PGA pros who delivered thousands of free lessons at this year’s Open Championship at Royal Liverpool while Hartswood’s Stephen Cole is the fourth pro to achieve Fellow category.

Congratulations also go to the following members who have achieved PGA Advanced Professional: Adrian Ambler (Low Laithes); Steven Chalmers (Banchory); Ed Chapman (Al Badia); Rob Darwin (Moor Park); Mark Henderson (Mission Hills); Jovick Lee (Riverside); Derek McKenzie (Santiburi Samui); David Meaney (Golf Club Lauterhofen); Alex Nicolson (Worplesdon); Paul Ring (Elsenham Golf & Leisure); Mark Roberts (Queenwood); Andrew Smith (Mid Sussex); Matthew Tucknott (West Cornwall); Robert Warburton (Moor Park) Daniel Welsh (Windyhill).
