Dick strikes first blow in Total Triumph Winter Series

27/09/2021

Jamie Dick set a scorching pace at Knowle Golf Club in winning the first event in the Total Triumph-sponsored Gloucester and Somerset PGA Winter Series.

The Cinderford-based PGA Trainee carded seven birdies at the Bristol venue to post a six under par total of 64 and finish three shots clear of Weston Super Mare Golf Club’s Ali Balcombe.

Dick opened strongly on a course that was firm and fast with the greens in excellent condition, recording three birdies in the first five holes before adding two more at eight and nine to reach the turn in five-under.

His negotiation of the back nine was less explosive: two birdies were tempered by a bogey at 11 but he had done more than enough in the outward half to keep Balcombe at bay.

Balcombe, meanwhile, matched Dick’s birdie tally but four dropped shots on the front nine proved costly.

He finished a shot clear of the only other player to break par, Broadway Golf Club’s Josh Davies. Filton Golf Club’s Giuseppe Licata and the Total Triumph Strokeplay champion Ross Langdon of Brickhampton Court were tied-fourth on level par.

Cirencester’s Ed Goodwin was unable to play in this event but still leads the Total Triumph Order of Merit which includes the results of the few events completed in 2020.
