Dixon Dominates At Cirencester

Enmore Park’s David Dixon cleaned up at Cirencester in the final 18 hole Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal of the winter season.

His back nine of just 32 strokes contributed to a four-under-par 67 which included seven birdies as he also claimed both sweeps. A birdie three at the eighth marked the start of a stunning run of six birdies in nine holes.

But it was close as Mendip Spring’s George Ryall was only one behind. He opened with a trio of birdies and added another at the sixth.

He made his sixth on the new par four 18th, which the pros played for the first time. Burnham & Berrow’s Lee Corfield was third on one-under 70,

Ross Langdon (Brickhampton Court) failed in his attempt to win three weeks with 72 for fourth. Home assistant Mitch Caunt finished fith on 74.

Cirencester’s Ed Goodwin seems certain to take the Total Triumph Order of Merit title as he holds a 36-point lead ahead this week’s Triumph Strokeplay at Henbury.
