A golfer, who was the toast of his club after sinking a hole-in-one and buying drinks to the tune of £188.00, raised a glass of his own to his insurance providers Golfplan who covered his bar bill.

“It was a great feeling to get my first hole-in-on after 42 years playing the game and an even better one when I realised my policy covered what proved a rather expensive round,” said Dr Niall Lynch who is a 10 handicapper and lives in Stockport.

“I’d taken out Golf Plan’s policy because of its extensive coverage but hand on heart I didn’t expect to be claiming for an ace so I’m delighted on both counts.”

The expensive round was incurred in a amateur tournament but the golfer’s policy with Golfplan International Golf Insurance ensured he wasn’t hit in the pocket.

Golfplan offers some of the most comprehensive cover on the market and surprisingly perhaps, hole-in-ones are not an infrequent occurrence, as managing director Roger Harvey confirmed.

“We normally get two or three claims a month so it does happen and as a keen golfer myself I’m always happy to sign the cheques because I know what an achievement it is,” he said.

But while insuring against hole-in-ones is always a prudent move, it is the broader cover that Golfplan provides which helps set it apart from its competitors.

With new PGA Partner status to its name, and as the new sponsor of the popular PGA Pro-Captain Challenge, Golfplan, is looking to cement its reputation for offering a premium service with an improved product that can meet the insurance needs of golfers.

“Like in anything, you get what you pay for and our customers understand that Golfplan’s cover is a high end service and as a result comprehensive,” adds Harvey.

“Many golfers mistakenly assume that household insurance or more basic cover will safeguard them in the event of theft, loss or injury but sadly that is not always the case.

“Golfplan prides itself on a comprehensive policy that protects the interest of our customers – whether holing in one and incurring a huge bar bill or the theft of clubs left in the car while away from the golf club.”

As part of its marketing strategy, Golfplan is working closely with PGA Professionals to help them deliver an improved service to their club members through their day to day contact.

“One of the reasons we decided to sponsor the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge and become PGA Partners is because we recognise the importance of the role of the PGA Professional,” added Harvey.

“Golfplan is the perfect fit for PGA Professionals who when custom fitting their members, or selling a new trolley or expensive putter, can also introduce them to Golfplan.”

The first qualifier for this year’s PGA Pro Captain Challenge will take place at John O’Gaunt Golf Club on July 31 with nine other qualifiers across the UK culminating in the grand final at Antalya Golf Club’s PGA Sultan Course in Turkey on November 21-22.
