Dodd and Price head field in South Wales

European Tour winners Stephen Dodd and Phillip Price (above) will chase the South Wales PGA Championship at Cardiff Golf Club on Wednesday (September 2).

The pair will be joined by player-of-the season James Lee (Caerphilly) whose lead in the Order of Merit is unassailable. With extra points available there will be a battle for the remaining two places in the team to represent the area in the South West regional qualifier for the SkyCaddie England & Wales Inter-County Championship at Woodbury Park on September 23.

Last year’s representatives were Sion Bebb (Morlais Castle), Richard Brookman (Creigiau) and Joe Ferguson (Celtic Manor).

South Wales PGA secretary Adam Constable (Cardiff) said: “We are expecting an entry of up to 30 and it will be more keenly contested than ever with the addition of Stephen and Phillip and the financial support from Asbri.”

The final of the £10,000 Inter-County Championship takes place over the PGA National course at The Belfry on October 14–15.
