Garry Houston won the PGA in Cheshire & North Wales Open at Northop Park after a sudden death play-off against Tim Dykes.

The Chester-based former European Tour player posted a four-under-par 68 in normal time matched by Dykes who birdied two of the last four holes.

But the Penrith assistant, who won the curtain-raising pro-am with a 71, paid the price for taking two strokes to escape a bunker at the first extra hole as his opponent sealed victory with a bogey.

Sandiway professional Gareth Jones shared third place, a shot off the pace, with Matthew Tottey from the North Wales club who won the PGA North Region Championship at Carus Green last month.
