David Dixon made an eagle on the final hole to earn his second win of the Gloucester and Somerset PGA winter season at Bristol and Clifton.
The Enmore Park man’s four-under-par round of 66 brought a one-stroke success over Cirencester’s Ed Goodwin.
Dixon is keeping his game in good shape ahead of next month’s PGA Play-Offs in Turkey and his card included three birdies at the second, sixth and 15th. The decisive moment followed his five-wood approach shot to the par-five 18th when the ball settled just three feet from the pin.
On a damp and murky grey day Dixon and Goodwin, who made five birdies, shared the birdie sweep. Goodwin gained shots at the fourth, sixth, seventh, 15th and 18th.
Seniors Tour player George Ryall (Players Club) made a successful debut for the season by claiming third spot with 69, two birdies offsetting his solitary bogey. The consistent Nick Ellis from Naunton Downs was fourth on 72.
Defending champion Giuseppe Licata (Bristol Golf Centre) regained the lead in the Total Triumph Order of Merit with Goodwin and Andrew March (Brean) in close pursuit.
