Education costs come down

Career PS

The PGA has reduced the costs of all its educational courses for members as of October 1, 2014.

It means for example that CPD courses which were previously £50 will now be £42 while the Director of Golf induction day falls from £270 to £225 and are now exempt from VAT.

Any PGA Member who has already paid for a course since October 1 at the higher price will receive a refund for the difference.

Dr Kyle Phillpots, The PGA’s director of education and career development, said: “Hopefully this reduction in price will encourage more members to take advantage of the extensive programme of education that we provide because education and professional development is vital for PGA Professionals to sustain their position as experts in the golf industry.”

The PGA Training Academy offers year round education across a range of subjects designed to help members in their day to day business – whether coaching, retail, marketing or management.

New courses unveiled for next year include ‘The art and science of squad coaching’ with Dr Brian Hemmings and Paul Ashwell (March 19); ‘How to make a coaching or promotional video’ with Paul Harvey and Robin Bailey (March 25); ‘Food and beverage: understanding how to improve profitability, productivity and control’ with Steven Brown (March 18); ’30 ways to boost publicity’ with Andy Hiseman and Geoff Russell (May 8); ‘Golf club politics – how to stay and how to manage’ with David Bancroft-Turner (April 27) and ‘Increasing pro shop profits through professional service’ with Jenny Sharrock (Feb 11).
