Entries are now open for the popular PGA Cornish Festival which will be staged once again over the highly-regarded links courses at Trevose, St Enodoc (above) and Newquay.
The 2014 event has been brought forward a week to April 1-3 in advance of the Easter holiday period so hundreds of golfers from all over the country will start their new season in the Duchy at a time when the weather is often favourable and the many off-course attractions are less crowded.
The field, split into three groups who play a different course each day, has been over-subscribed for the last few years. More than 400 professionals and amateurs enjoy starting their golfing season with an early-season break in the country’s most popular holiday area.
PGA in England & Wales (South West) secretary Glenn Ross said: “We are expecting another full field and are looking forward to seeing many of our regular competitors. We will of course be delighted to welcome any new faces and, as usual, we advise early entry to avoid any disappointment.
“We have welcomed some well-known players in recent years. Ryder Cup players Paul Broadhurst and Peter Baker (South Staffs) have been recent winners, along with Wellingborough’s Simon Lilly and European Tour winner David Dixon (Enmore Park).
“Well-known personalities like former Southampton and England international Matt Le Tissier are also among our regular visitors."
