James Jankowksi (JJ Golf) made no less than eight birdies in securing a one-shot success in the Essendon Pro-Am.
Jankowski, who used to be based at the Hertfordshire club, survived a late wobble to edge out Jason Levermore (Little Channels Golf Centre) and Mark Talbott (Thorpe Hall).
‘JJ’ who teed off at the second hole under a shotgun start, was seven-under-par for his round after some superb golf.
A couple of slip-ups inside his last three holes threatened to undo all the good work – but his four-under-par total proved just good enough to bag a first regional win of the season.
Talbott came closest to pipping Jankowski. Despite a double-bogey start he got it to four-under before dropping a shot at his final hole – the 15th.
Levermore also had a chance to tie at the top but was unable to birdie his final hole, the par-5 ninth.
Talbott’s quartet won the team event by four strokes on a tally of 124.
