Glasgow golfer Craig Everett is aiming to do his beloved club proud and win the Golfbreaks.com PGA Fourball Championship.
The 35-year-old (pictured on left), who has worked at Caldwell Golf Club for most of his career, will team up with Stewart Savage (Dalmuir, right) in the BMW-supported showpiece after progressing from the Scottish regional qualifying round.
The event, which carries a £33,250 prize fund, will take place at St Mellion on August 20-22, and Everett believes the duo have every chance of challenging for the title.
“We always tend to do well when we team up,” Everett explained.
“I’ve not been playing quite as much this year, but I try to get out there as much as I can and we have won the fourball qualifier in Scotland a couple of times over the last few years.
“Stewart is ‘Mr Reliable’. He’s steady and you know that you can go round with him and he’ll at least hit par.
“We’re trying to get out and play as much as we can so hopefully we’ll be in good form when we get to St Mellion.
“It’s not a course I’ve played but I’ve heard a lot of good things, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
Everett admitted that playing on behalf of Caldwell brings its own pressures.
The Glaswegian completed The PGA’s foundation degree while working at Caldwell and, after a spell away, returned for what has become a seven-year stint.
“It’s a great club with a great membership base and I look forward competing on their behalf,” he enthused.
“I would do absolutely anything I can to go out and promote Caldwell.
“Everyone here is so down to earth and easy to get on with, and it makes all the difference when you can work somewhere like that.
“I can’t wait to go forward with the club and represent Caldwell at this event and many others in the future.”
The other players from the Scottish qualifier competing in the final include Alan Reid (West Lothian) and Darren Bragg (North London), David Broadfoot (Kirkcudbright) and Richard Clarke (Direct Golf UK), and Ewan MacPherson (Auchterarder) and Sean Bissett (Kingsfield).
