Exciting 2022 season awaits for the CK Facilities Management PGA South Order of Merit

22/02/2022

The PGA in England (South) is delighted to announce the details for the CK Facilities Management PGA South Order of Merit for 2022.

This year, the Order of Merit travels to some stunning venues, with Sunningdale Heath, Cuddington, Prince’s, Chart Hills and Paultons playing host to the £90,000 series.

The first event of the Order of Merit will be staged in one of the richest golfing destinations in England, with Sunningdale Heath set to test the Southern region’s leading PGA Professionals over 54 holes in the Sunningdale Heath PGA Challenge OOM and Pro-Am on the 8th - 9th June.

The first round will be played as a Pair Pro-Am format, before the leading Professionals play 36 holes over the par-58 heathland layout.

From there, the Order of Merit moves to Cuddington in early July, for the PGA Surrey Open Championship OOM which, as part the Southern leg of the new PGA Open Series, boasts a £20,000 prize fund. The newly introduced PGA Open Series consists of seven 36-hole tournaments spread across the seven PGA regions, with a guaranteed total prize fund of £140,000 being underwritten by The PGA.

After Cuddington, it’s an eastward journey to England’s royal golfing coast for the PGA Kent Open Championship OOM which takes place at its traditional home of the Open Championship venue - Prince’s.

The Order of Merit then sees a return to the rejuvenated Nick Faldo-designed, Chart Hills, for the PGA Southern Professional Championship OOM in late August, with the conclusion of the run of events taking place in September at Paultons Golf Centre in Hampshire, where the CK Facilities Management PGA South Order of Merit champion will be crowned at the PGA Southern Open Championship @ Paultons OOM

For 2022, Pine Ridge Golf Centre’s Lewis Atkinson will be looking to defend his title after an enthralling finale at Paultons last year. Going into the final day, Atkinson had been five points behind his nearest challenger, Guy Woodman. However, a tied sixth finish was good enough for an 18-point swing in the standings and a 13-point victory.

“We are delighted to stage yet another fantastic series of tournaments open to all PGA South Professionals and Trainees throughout 2022,” said The PGA in England (South)’s Regional Manager, Sam Smith. “After the success of 2021, the five superb host venues this year and our very supportive and long-standing sponsor, CK Facilities Management, we can’t wait to get the season underway.”

The top 3 players in the 2022 Order of Merit, will also earn the right to head to the 2023 PGA Playoffs, alongside the best of the other PGA regions plus the PGA Professional champion, runner up and the PGA Assistants' champion. They will be battling it out for a number of DP World and Challenge Tour spots, as well as a highly-regarded prize fund.
