Extra special Jones is Cheshire champ again!

Michael Jones retained The PGA in Cheshire and North Wales Matchplay Championship at Wilmslow.

But only after a close encounter with Sandiway PGA Professional and namesake Gareth Jones.

The 29-year-old Royal Liverpool assistant, who was crowned PGA in England and Wales (North) champion at Blackpool's Herons' Reach in 2013, had to pull out all the stops against his resilient opponent.

But he eventually prevailed at the first extra hole to lift the trophy for a third time since 2011.

"It was nip and tuck all the way round," said Jones. "So the result could have gone either way."
