Fabulous Foxhills a perfect 'Fitt' for PGA Cup

22/09/2022

Chris Fitt has spoken of his pride at Foxhills Club & Resort hosting a hugely successful second PGA Cup match.

The Surrey resort became only the second venue in the PGA Cup’s 49-year history to be chosen twice, following the lead of 2006 Ryder Cup host venue The K Club in Ireland (1992 and 2005).

More than 70 Foxhills members volunteered throughout the week to ensure the smooth-running of the competition, with everything from scorers, scoreboard holders, ball watchers, range helpers, buggy drivers for players and many more roles across the tournament.

“It’s been a long, hard week for all of the team, so I’m super proud of them for putting in the effort that they have,” said Fitt, who is Director of Golf at Foxhills and a PGA Member himself.

“Everyone seems happy so there’s a strong sense of satisfaction there that we’ve nailed a really great championship.

“You can see what it means to both The PGA and the players. It’s nice to feel that we played a small part in how proud and how much it means to them. It would have been nice to have finished with a win for Great Britain & Ireland, but it’s been a great week for us.”

Foxhills proved a popular destination for both teams in 2017 and 2022, and Fitt has not ruled out hosting what would be an unprecedented third home PGA Cup match in the future.

He added: “When you get compliments and positivity, it reminds everyone what you’re working towards and it makes it worth it.

“From The PGA’s perspective, it’s two PGA Cup events we’ve hosted now: one win and one loss. It will be interesting to have a tie breaker but we’ll see what happens.”
