After adding arguably the best courses in England and Europe to their 2014 schedule, The PGA in England (South) has now secured possibly the best course in Africa with the unique South Africa experience that is Fancourt.
The Fancourt Pro-Am is being staged in association with Virgin Atlantic and Destination Golf and will take place from November 30 to December 6, 2014.
Secretary Sam Smith has hailed the event as one of the most exciting additions to an already extensive playing schedule.
“The Fancourt Pro-Am isn’t just about those that play golf; it lays on everything you could think of for those that don’t,” said Smith.
Fancourt enjoys a reputation as South Africa’s premier lifestyle estate, set in between mountains, forests and the warm Indian Ocean nearby.
It boasts three superb golf courses designed by nine time major winner Gary Player.
“It also offers the perfect opportunity to explore the world famous Garden Route, making the ideal way to start that once-in-a-lifetime South African experience," added Smith.
“In addition to the golf, Destination Golf will happily fix up whatever additional arrangements you want to make in South Africa and to explore many of the other amazing possibilities Fancourt offers - wine tasting, animal spotting or simply spending the day on the glorious swimming beaches, going horse riding or doing some mountain biking.”
The first round starts on the relatively easier of the three, the Outeniqua before the pro-am moves into a higher gear with the second round on the Montagu course – both rated as top 20 courses in South Africa.
A day off follows for a rest or more golf before the third round, and star of the week - The Links - venue for the 2003 Presidents Cup, rated second in Africa and 30th in their top 100 courses outside the US by Golf Digest, before the fourth and final tournament round, followed by a gala dinner at Fancourt’s Morning Glory restaurant.
The six night itinerary on a bed and breakfast basis includes welcome BBQ, four tournament rounds of golf and prize presentation gala dinner.
Flights with Virgin Atlantic to Cape Town can also be included in the entry package. The party will be accompanied by PGA and Destination Golf representatives.
Entries from teams of one PGA Professional and three Amateurs are welcome and for more information and prices, speak with Destination Golf’s Richard Axelsen on 01737 771 613, e-mail him at richard@destinationgolf.co.uk, or call The PGA in England (South) on 01483 224200.
