Dunbar's Neil Fenwick leads the chase for the £5,200 first pro prize as the Tomatin Single Malt 54-hole pro-am tournament moves into its third and final round over Castle Stuart, Nairn and Royal Dornoch.

Fenwick is seven under having played Nairn (par 71) and Castle Stuart (par 72), while Braids Hill pro Paul McKechnie is at six under alongside Paul O’Hara (Clydeway Golf) having played Castle Stuart and Royal Dornoch.

Two strokes span the leading eight players but the courses over which they have to play their final rounds could play a big part in the final outcome.

Fenwick's final 18 holes on Wednesday are over Royal Dornoch while McKechnie plays Nairn.

Simon Edwards (Windermere), Greig Hutcheon (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) and Ross Kellett (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) are tied fourth.

McKechnie's three-under-par 67 at Royal Dornoch was the lowest score at any of three courses in the second round, which suggests the Glasgow 38-year-old has quickly recaptured the form that saw him win a string of events, capped by the Paul Lawrie Invitational at Deeside.
